Whenever we watch a film or even a youtube video we tend to focus on what we see. We often overlook or take for granted what we are hearing. The sound we hear and instinctively connect to he visuals has an enormous impact on our understanding and reaction to a scene or film. In this unit students will be introduced to the power of sound and how it influences us.

- View and carefully listen to the following scene and chart all the sounds you can distinguish.
- Comment on how each sound contributes to telling the story of the scene.
- Watch the scene again with no sound. Does the sound of the scene create have an emotional impact? What are the emotions you feel and how does the sound contribute to that?
