The Story of Residential Schools in Canada
Those in the media have a powerful platform for the expressions of ideas. Along with that power comes a great deal of responsibility to use that platform to fight for the powerless. The media has the responsibility to bring the story of Residential Schools to Canadians.
September 30 2021 will honour Indigenous People with the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. A national statutory holiday - not in celebration, but in recognition of the tragic past of residential schools in Canada. It is a history that most Canadians have not known. It is an ugly history, but at the same time not distant history.
