ISU - Post-Secondary Pathway Opportunities
This video production course has the potential to lead to multiple post-secondary opportunities and exciting careers in many media production. Technology has advanced to the point where a small investment in equipment can allow students to develop the skills and work habits that will be required in the media production field. Many colleges and universities offer programs that lead to media production careers.

Universities also offer a range of programs. You can do a separate Google search of media production courses to find information. For example, Ryerson University offers a broad range of courses related to video, film and media production.
Individual Research Assignment:
You will explore Post-secondary opportunities
1) Identify 2 careers of your choice related to video/film/media production - must be an industry job where you would take formal training to allow you to be employed after your education.
A solo career such as "Youtube Star" or self-taught freelance editor do not qualify
2) Identify and research 3 different Colleges or Universities that offer a course(s) that are a pathway for your identified careers.
3) Describe the careers - what does the job entail
Why are you interested in these careers?
What kinds of skills or tasks would you expect to do?
What skills would be important to develop to be successful in the career - 4 to 6 sentences each
You must provide links following each question so information can be verified by your teacher. Failer to do so will result in a significantly lower mark.
Select 1 institution for one of your 1 career choices to answer the following questions:
Institutions can be Colleges and/or Universities
ie. Research only 1 of your career choices for one of the institutions of you choice.
eg. Bookeeper - Sheridan College
Accountant - University of Toronto
2 - Identify post-secondary institutions that offer programs that would support those careers
In addition to your own career choice, list other related careers that this program will support.
Provide website links for your choices
For each institution/career choice:
3 - What (if any) are the per-requisites required to gain admittance to the programs?
4 - How many years does the program run?
5 - What Degree/Diploma/Certification will you earn after successful completion of the course?
6 - What skills or personal characteristics are recommended for persons interested in entering the industry?
7 - What kind of projects/skills will the program give exposure to?
8 - Research 1 online job posting for one of the careers you have researched.
Provide the job posting link in your report.
Answer the following questions:
What is the job listed as?
Where is the job?
Does it state a pay range (yearly or hourly)?
Are the expected number of working hours listed?
